Working With Clients

Clients form an integral part of the project.

Some clients are more involved than others but you need to know how and when to involve them.

As a rule, be straight and transparent

We don’t wait until our results are perfect, we show them everything we produce, even if its wrong or ugly.

We show them our techniques (including when we copy ideas from other places).

Don't be too close

Be professional and a little distant. If you’re too pally, it will be hard to set boundaries when things go wrong.

It will also be hard to spot scope creep, if you’re trying to please the client.

Be quick to respond but watch out

All clients appreciate rapid communication but watch out for those who absorb too much of your time. Its okay to NOT respond immediately to them.

Be in charge of the process
Clients want you to tell them what to do, if you don’t they will tell you what to do, which will make the project inefficient.
Defer to client on style and taste

Whilst trying to keep the simple and minimalist principles, let clients push their own tastes and styles if they want.
