Adding People To Projects
People are added to projects at different times. They jump on and jump off as needed or due to personal circumstances.
Learn how to manage these situations.
Make sure person is trained and has time
When you add someone to a project, they may not have the complete knowledge or time to make it a success. All project are different, so you have to vet them and keep a close eye until they are settled in. This may apply to you, if you are new to a project.
Talk to HR
There may be new people in the company or people leaving. HR will help find the right person.
Give / have a lengthy handover
Regardless of the skills, it is harder to jump onto a moving project and work intelligently. Whoever jumps onto the project (including yourself) should get training and given a long and exhaustive handover—and should not be left to discover the details themselves (by reading back chats or looking at visual plans)
If the person isn't good for the job
If the person isn’t professional, is hard to reach, or is clearly not capable, let HR know so we can find someone else or retrain.
