A dev site is a copy of the website where development happens.
A staging site is a copy of the live site where we make fixes.
Dev and staging sites are hosted by Starfish.
Live sites
A live site is a site under the control of the client and visible to the public.
The live site, could be hosting on the client’s host or with Starfish.
Once the website is live, it hosted under its domain name.
Don’t develop on the live site if there is a development or staging site.
Live development and updates
In some cases, we don’t create a staging sites. For clients with minor content updates or clients who aren’t fussy.
Live sites before launch
Live websites are for completed websites. They are visible to Google. There may be a coming soon page on a live site with a form – for testing purposes.
