Transparency
Transparency is the 2nd principle.
It drives how we act and how our clients see us.
What is transparency?
Transparency makes it is easy for others to see what is being done.
Transparency implies openness, honesty, communication, and accountability.
Why is it important?
It helps us learn faster and adapt to changing situations. Problems will be solved faster and more efficiently.
Transparency for everyone
Be visible online and be open to honest communication and other points of view.
Don’t worry about things being wrong. Quick and wrong is better than slow and wrong.
Provide periodic updates.
Be realistic with others. e.g., if you’re going to miss a deadline, say so.
Transparency for specialists
- Show your work early
- Show incomplete work.
- Get feedback way before it’s done.
- Honest and open timekeeping logs.
- Put all work on Figma.
- Don’t work on your local dev environment
Transparency with clients
- Give bad news early.
- Be truthful and accurate.
- Saying “no” or “not sure”.
- Tell clients about mistakes.
- Be responsive.
- Show the inner workings of their project.
Why is transparency important for clients?
It helps us seem trustworthy (that we have nothing to hide). It helps them appreciate the hard work that we do.
