Software Updates

WordPress needs to update its core every few months.

A website can have around 15 plugins, so there are usually updates happening every week.

Do updates at least once every two weeks for corporate sites.

Keep auto updates on

Since updates happen all the time, the ones that can be updated automatically, do so.

Live vs Staging updates

If there is a staging site, do it there. If the website needs major updates, create a staging.

If on live, create a backup (for major updates)

Make sure license is there

Lisence numbers need to be entered for plugins to be updated.

Manual updates
Some plugins such as Elementor Pro can only be updated manually because they need a paid license. Get the license from Francis.
Rollbacks

If the website crashes, you can still log in and deactivate the plugin. Then go and find an earlier version of the plugin online.
