Logos

Our goal is to make simple but high quality, creative logos.

Our logos need to be well-researched, up to international and modern standards.

They need to be simple so that they can be used on offline and online.

How they are made

We work collaboratively with the client and consultant and coordinator.

We use the same process as we would to make a website: competitive analysis, briefs, rough ideas, variations on chosen ideas, then polishing.

The process can be slow due to the many back and forths between client and designer, however, to make it efficient we don’t rush or skip stages.

Benefits of Competitive Analysis (CA)

Even if you understand the brief, do a CA. It is the quickest way to brings elevate the quality of work, to clarify the brief and to open up the conversation.

Clients may not complain, but they may not be satisfied with the ideas presented, but by having a CA, it deflects the attention away from the designer’s creativity or talents.

Tracking Process

The entire process is done in FigJam to track the progression of ideas and so that the team and client can work together.

This includes sketches, screenshots of chats, briefs, internal and client feedbacks, competitive analysis.

Preferred Starfish Techniques
Designers should be allowed to do things their way to a degree, however we recommend the following to ensure the best work and client satisfaction:
  • Do a competitive analysis and show it to the client through Figma.
  • Be transparent (show CA, say if you’re copying)
  • Seek guidance from consultant (and coordinator) before sending to client.
  • Explain the ideas since clients may not understand concepts.
  • Sketch or draw, work in rough, never show early work looking complete.
  • In the early stages, brainstorm rough sketches (at least over 10 ) Maybe 20.
  • Copy and paste parts of logos together to create new ideas.
  • Keep ideas and logos simple (but let clients run with their ideas).
Fixed Price

If the client insists on a fixed price, we charge with a healthy buffer to ensure enough time for fussy clients who like to see plenty of options. The process is the same.

Refund policy

Sometimes clients provide very abstract briefs, or ask for crazy unrealistic ideas, they don’t know what they want, or sometimes the designer doesn’t do good work.

If the client is not satisfied with the work, they are welcome to a refund.
